When my second desktop PC Dell has arrived last year, one of the houses member, my cat (called Anastasia) likes the box where contains LCD screen.
My cat gets the oportunity of their life for enjoy Dell´s boxes all day. Finally, after a long term, screen box ends the trip around my home in a car garage containing xmas objects.
In fact, long life to the box.

This is another story spanned for months.
Since I realized that, the TV programmes recorded by Windows Media Center of my Windows 7 PC are with WTV file extension, and popular video playback computer programs like Media Player Classic, KMPlayer, PotPlayer or even SPlayer cannot play them, my headache started to develop - it cannot be played in my Windows XP computer, since no application is able to play videos with WTV file extensions!
All my computers except one was running Windows XP. I don't want to stick to the Windows 7 computer if I want to watch them. I want to play the recorded TV using my viliv s5.
I searched for programs doing the video conversion work. However, common ones like MediaCoder or SUPER can't handle WTV files. Windows Live Movie Make can convert WTV files to WMV, but only the first soundtrack is preserved. That means if the programme has more than one language available (like English and Japanese), only one language can be reserved, and you have no choice to choose which one. Even worse is that all its subtitles/captions will be gone in the converted file.
Then I found freeware like ToDVRMS and MCEBuddy which can handle WTV files. I was delighted for a second, then I was disappointed - they can only handle WTV files which are recorded from ANALOG TV source! Nearly all my TV recordings are from local DIGITAL TV / HDTV channels. These programs ccannot handle WTV files which are recorded from digital TV channels.
After months of struggle, I decided to install Windows 7 to my viliv s5, then transfer the recorded programs there. At first I was still worrying if there's any encryption or performance issue, but it turns out that the files recorded by Windows 7 MCE can be played in another WIndows 7 MCE. More surprisingly is that although Windows 7 looks even worse than Windows Vista when installing in my viliv s5, the playback of even 1080i videos is very smooth!
Well, I still wish one day there's a freeware which could perform a complete video conversion for my recorded programs such that I can use my Windows XP computers to play them. Meh.

Last night I had a play with VirtualBox (VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product), running ubuntu 9.1 on Windows Vista, just for fun :)
